Release of ill prisoner Besra Erol postponed for 6 months 2025-06-22 10:24:45   AMED - The release of Besra Erol, mother of Evrim Deniz Erol, one of the 33 people who lost their lives in the attack organised by ISIS in Pirsûs, was postponed once again by the Administration and Observation Board.    Besra Erol, mother of Evrim Deniz Erol, one of 33 people who died in a suicide bomb attack of ISIS in Pirsûs (Surç) district of Riha (Urfa) on July 20, 2015, is arrested on April 30, 2019 on the charge of "terrorist organisation propaganda" for the speech she made at the grave of her daughter.    Besra Erol was sentenced to 7.5 years in prison and she was released on parole in December 2024 after completing her sentence. However, Elazığ Women's Closed Prison Administration and Observation Board postponed her release for 6 months due to her answers to questions such as "Do you regret it?" and "Why are you staying among political prisoners?".   Yesterday, Besra Erol was once again brought before the Administration and Observation Board, but her release was postponed for 6 months because she again refused to repent. It is stated that her lawyers will appeal against the decision to postpone her release.    Besra Erol suffers from thyroid nodules, which carry a risk of cancer, as well as lumbar hernia, inguinal hernia, sciatica, goitre, high blood pressure and high eye pressure.
