Release of 30-year prisoner postponed for the 2nd time 2025-07-18 19:55:45   ANKARA - The release of Hasip Avşar, a 30-year prisoner, who is being held in Aksaray T-Type Closed Prison, was postponed for the second time for 3 months by the decision of the Administration and Observation Board.   While Avşar was supposed to be released on 30 March, the Administration and Observation Board convened on 25 March and postponed his release for 3 months because he refused to accept the "remorse" imposition.    The next evaluation was scheduled for 1 July. At the meeting held on this date, Avşar's release was once again postponed for 3 months for the same reason. The Administrative and Observation Board will make its assessment of Avşar on 2 October.   Peoples' Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party Şirnex (Şırnak) MP Newroz Uysal Aslan applied to the Parliamentary Human Rights Investigation Commission (IHİK) against the prevention of Avşar's release. In the application, the commission was requested to carry out on-site investigations and reports, and to make legal arrangements for the elimination of grievances.   Avşar was arrested in 1995 and sentenced to life imprisonment. It is learned that Avşar, who has been held in many prisons, is ill.
