Purple Saturdays Movement: Afghan interests should be taken into account at Islamabad conference 2025-08-22 14:30:40   NEWS CENTER - Making a statement about the conference in Islamabad where Taliban opponents and Pakistani government officials will meet, The Purple Saturdays Movement called for the interests of teh Afghan people to be taken into account at the conference.    The Purple Saturdays Movement issuead a statement on the two-day conference titled "Towards Unity and Trust", where Pakistani authorities will meet with representatives of political parties, activists and women's rights defenders opposing the Taliban in Islamabad on 25-26 August, Afghanistan International reported.    The movement said the meeting could be an opportunity to support Afghans and put pressure on the Taliban. In the statement, the Movement emphasised that gender discrimination against women should also be criticised and stated that any meeting and development related to Afghanistan should be based on the national interests of the country and no decision should be taken that contradicts the rights of the poeple.    The statement also said that the historical enmity between Afghanistan and Pakistan should end and the Pakistani government should stop its support for the Taliban and urged the participants to call on the Pakistani government to stop the forced deportation of Afghan refugees.
