AMED - DBP and HDP provincial co-chairs called on the people of Amed(Diyarbakır) to write a new history and said: “This year's Newroz will be a way to lift the isolation on Mr. Öcalan and to gain freedom for the Kurds.”

 

In Amed, the public, political parties, civil society, labor and professional organizations are ready for the Newroz finale. The last calls were made for the rally to be held in Newroz Park in Rezan (Bağlar) district on Tuesday, March 21 with the slogan "Everywhere is Newroz, everytime is freedom". Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-Chair Berdan Öztürk, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Co-General Millions are expected to attend the final Newroz to be held at 10:00 with the participation of President Saliha Aydeniz, Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Co-Chair Mithat Sancar and Green Left Party Co-Spokesperson Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar.

 

HDP and DBP provincial co-chairs drew attention to the historical importance of Newroz and invited all Amed people to the field.

 

'IT WILL BE THE YEAR TO LIFT ISOLATION'

 

Stating that they expect a large participation this year, as every year, DBP Provincial Co-Chair Fahrettin Altun said: “Newroz renews itself as a people's revolution against reactionism. We welcome this year's Newroz under the influence of earthquakes. However, as the people of Amed, we will turn every place into a Newroz area. The main message of this year's Newroz will be to break the isolation on Kurdish People's Leader Mr. Öcalan. The isolation is not only on Mr. Öcalan, but also in all prisons and society. This year will be the year of breaking the isolation and winning the freedom struggle of the Kurdish people."

 

NEWROZ IS THE DAY TO CALL STATE TO ACCOUNT

 

Stating that Newroz is the common value of the peoples, HDP Provincial Co-chair Gülistan Atasoy said: “Tens of thousands of our people lost their lives due to the earthquake and hundreds of thousands of people were victimized. In the process when we are faced with such a disaster, it will be a Newroz that will change the fate of peoples and that is pregnant with change and transformation. Therefore, just as we have shouted our demand for freedom in the Newroz grounds, we will loudly express the demand for freedom, peace, justice, and the Kurdish identity demand in Newroz at such a time. Newroz is the Newroz of both the Kurdish people and the peoples of Turkey. In the shadow of the earthquake and suffering, but also with their anger, it will be a Newroz where we will hold the power to account. We will bring our pain together with our anger and our resistance. We want all peoples to witness the historical process and reconstruction so that this suffering does not happen again.”

 

Inviting the people to shout for peace and freedom around the Newroz fire and to strike the final blow to the fascist governments that caused losses and disasters in the earthquake, Atasoy said, “We also invite you to open the doors of a new life. The will and demands of the people in this year's Newroz area will also be our election demands and promises. This will perhaps be the last Newroz for which the government will fall. It will be the start of the new Newroz, where we will welcome spring like spring and welcome the holiday like a feast.”

 

2023 IS THE YEAR OF FREEDOM AND ACHIEVEMENT

 

Calling on millions to unite around the messages to be given in the field and witness the victory, HDP Provincial Co-Chair Zeyyat Ceylan continued as follows: “We will break fascism. Kurds will always draw attention to the heavy isolation of Mr. Öcalan in Newroz. Isolation is imposed on the entire society; therefore, lifting the isolation means opening the way to peace. It means opening the door to the dungeons. Since the Kurds know what isolation means, they know what to do to lift it. They will shout in the fields to lift the isolation. I believe that millions of people will flock to the Newroz area. The year 2023 will definitely be the year of freedom and achievement.”
