Xîzan villages are under threat

BİTLÎS - Stating that the areas where the villages of Xîzan are located were randomly bombed and Green Left Party MP Semra Çağlar Gökalp said: "The region was intended to be depopulated."

The attacks, which started after the curfew declared on July 2 in Xûlepûr and Kekulan villages of Xîzan district of Bitlis, continued with the declaration of a "Special Security Zone" for 15 days on July 15. In the military operations that started after the bans, trees were uprooted in villages and nature was destroyed. After the "Special Security Zone" was declared, many parts of the villages have been bombed for days.

The delegation, including the Greens and Left Future Party (Green Left Party) Bedlis MPs Semra Çağlar Gökalp and Hüseyin Olan, conducted investigations in the villages where the attacks continued and received information from the public.

TREES HAVE BEEN CUT

Stating that the curfew covers 10 villages, but there is intense military activity in the village of Xûlepûr, Green Left Party Bedlis MP Semra Çağlar Gökalp said: "Our entrance to the village was blocked on the grounds of 'military operation' and that a 'Special Security Zone' was declared immediately after. We conducted inspections in the village and met with the people on July 16. During the curfew declared on the grounds of a military operation, many material losses, especially the cultivated lands of the villagers, occurred. During the prohibitions, military vehicles passed through the cultivated land belonging to 21 citizens. Both the trees were cut and their crops were plundered."

PREPARATIONS TO ESTABLISH A MILITARY BASE

Pointing out that there are preparations to establish a base in the region, Gökalp said: “The whole region is wanted to be turned into a base. The trees inside the valley have been completely cut down so that the bases that were already set up there have a better view of the area. The region has been plundered under the name of the operation. We have seen that there are attempts to restrict the living spaces of the citizens living there with this step because photo traps have been placed in the area. People cannot move because of the security threat."

'REGION IS RANDOMLY BOMBED'

Noting that the area was bombed at regular intervals, Gökalp said: “Citizens said that the windows of their houses were at the level of being broken due to the bombs and they could not sleep during the night. Citizens living in the village are in a very uneasy state. When you talk to people, you can feel uneasiness and restlessness. The whole area is randomly bombed. The area where the operation is carried out is completely wooded and bombing is carried out without a target. Again, according to the information we obtained from the citizens, a few of the bombs dropped did not explode. Those bombs are standing in the area and creating a separate danger for people.”
