NEWS CENTER - Beşiktaş Municipality's CHP member Mayor Rıza Akpolat detained due to "corruption" allegations.
In Istanbul, a detention warrant was issued for 47 people within the scope of the investigation initiated with the allegation that a criminal organization led by Aziz İhsan Aktaş organised tender processes by bribing mayors and senior executives of municipalities and ensured that their own companies received the tenders. Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer and Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat, who were arrested and replaced by a trustee, are among the suspects for whom detention warrants have been issued.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office made a statement on the issue and alleged that "a criminal organization for profit led by Aziz İhsan Aktaş organized tender processes by bribing mayors and senior executives of municipalities". In the statement, it was argued that within the scope of the investigation initiated on bribery, evidence was obtained within a 3-month period.
