MERSİN - “Either you choose the democratic solution of Mr. Öcalan or you will cease to be an interlocutor,” says DBP Co-Chair Keskin Bayındır.
Protest against the trustee appointment of Mersin Akdeniz Municipality, governed by DEM Party, continue today. Speaking there Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Co-chair Keskin Bayındır said, "The people preferred our politics. But AKP usurped it. The people did not vote for you and did not trust you. Let us remind you if you forget; you appointed trustees 3 times but the people supported their party more than each time. The people will take back their municipality. Come to your senses.”
Pointing to the talks with PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, Bayındır said, “They have been talking about Kurdish-Turkish brotherhood since October 1. We want this too, but we cannot be brothers with the trustees. We will not be brothers with anyone while there are trustees and attacks. We do not trust you. We trust our people and women. We will achieve success with our own power. They say, 'We are not the enemy of the Kurdish people'. You are the enemy of the Kurdish people and their identity. 2 Kurdish journalists were killed by Turkish drones. This state is the enemy of the Kurdish people's funerals. You seized our municipality and imprisoned our friends. You are enemies of the will of the Kurdish people. The municipality is blockaded. It is not our friends who are imprisoned today, it is you. As long as these policies continue, you will also remain prisoners.”
'YOU WILL CEASE TO BE AN INTERLOCUTOR'
Drawing attention to the attacks on North and East Syria, “There have been attacks on Rojava for days. They are attacking the will of the peoples to live together. Don't say 'we are extending the hand of peace', we don't believe that. They have put forward a process that is only in language. We only trust the Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Ocalan in this process. We will do our best to fulfill the 7 points he presented to the Kurdish-Turkish people. The Kurdish people say 'we exist' for an honorable peace, and you appoint trustees. You attack Rojava. You will not achieve your goal with these policies. If you insist on these policies, you will cease to be an interlocutor. There is an important threshold in front of Turkey. Either you choose Mr. Öcalan's democratic solution or you will cease to be an interlocutor,” said Keskin Bayındır.
“We will resist against oppression and hostility until the end,” said Keskin Bayındır and added, “We are fighting for humanity. Those who blockade our municipality are the unjust ones. No one has ever been and will ever be overcome by oppression. In history, those who resist have always won. We will resist until the end for an honorable peace and send the trustees back to where they came from. They are cornered. They are stabbing themselves with the dagger with the trustees.”
After the speeches, the mass held a sit-in protest. The protest ended with the slogans “Berxedan jiyan e (Resistance is life)” and “Bijî berxwedana gelê Kurd (Long live resistance of the Kurdish People)”.
