12 bar associations, including the Amed (Diyarbakır) and Wan (Van) bar associations, made a statement on Turkey's attack on civilians standing guard at the Tishreen Dam. In the statement, it was pointed out that Kurdish artist Bavê Teyar (Cuma Xelîl Îbrahim) and 6 people were killed in the latest attack. The statement issued under the title "Civilians must be protected under all circumstances" emphasised that the attack on civilians was a clear violation of international law.

The statement read as follows: "While life has started to normalise in other parts of Syria, the conflict environment has started to revive in North and East Syria. In the latest attack in Tishreen Dam, six civilians, including Kurdish theatre actor Cuma Xelil İbrahim (Bavê Teyar), were killed and fifteen civilians were injured. We wish Allah's mercy to the theatre actor Bavê Teyar, who has a serious love in the Kurdish society, and the civilians who lost their lives, and a quick recovery to the wounded. This attack against civilians is a clear violation of international law. Protection of civilians in conflict is an international obligation. The Geneva Convention and humanitarian law must be respected.
