AMED - Sedat Akgok was released from Trabzon Beşikdüzü Prison after 31 years of imprisonment.
Akgök was arrested in Amed (Diyarbakır) in 1994 for political reasons, was sentenced to life imprisonment following a trial at the State Security Court of the time. Akgok, who was held in several prisons during his imprisonment, was finally transferred to Beşikdüzü Prison. Although he had completed his 30-year sentence, his release was previously blocked twice by the Prison Administration and Observation Board.
Akgök was met by his family and friends at the prison gates and travelled to Amed, where his family lives. Many people who heard about Akgök's release visited his family home.
