ISTANBUL – Former Indian Member of Parliament Aneel Prasad Hegde, who participated in the "International Peace and Democratic Society Conference," stated, "Ocalan's principles will bring peace to the entire world."

 

The People's Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party is continuing the "International Peace and Democratic Society Conference" it organised in Istanbul as part of the Peace and Democratic Society Process initiated by Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan on its second day at the Cem Karaca Cultural Centre. 

 

Among the participants of the conference, which was attended by many internationally renowned figures involved in peace efforts, was Aneel Prasad Hegde, former Member of Parliament for the Janata Dal (United) Party in India, who took various actions to draw attention to the situation of Ocalan. 

 

On 13 December 2023, Hegde addressed the Indian Parliament regarding Abdullah Ocalan's conditions of isolation and called for his country to intervene in Turkey and secure Abdullah Ocalan's physical freedom. 

 

Hegde also staged an action on 15 February 2024 at Jantar Mantar Park, known for peaceful protests near the Indian Parliament, drawing attention to the isolation of Abdullah Ocalan and demanding his release. 

 

 

On 9 October 2025, Hegde delivered a letter from the Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) to the Dalai Lama, the highest spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism, calling on him to publicly pray for Ocalan's health and well-being.

 

 

Sharing his views on the conference with the Mezopotamya Agency (MA), Hegde said: "The moment I learnt about Abdullah Ocalan, who is also known as the Mandela of the Middle East I was very interest." Hegde said he had read extensively about Abdullah Ocalan's paradigm: "More and more I start reading about Ocalan, I get so much inspired because he is the first person I have heard who speaks of a stateless nation and in spite of, and I believe now that is the ultimate solution for the whole world." 

 

'OCALAN'S PRINCIPLES WILL BRING PEACE TO THE WORLD'

 

"It is a privilege for me to be part of this conference," said Hegde, referring to Ocalan's message read at the conference, adding, "Ocalan’s principles will bring peace to the entire world. The nation states are responsible for the patriarchy and all the capitalism and environmental destruction, everything. Everything is encompassed in this particular message of Ocalan." 

 

'WE WILL WORK FOR WORLD PEACE'

 

Hegde expressed his hope that there would be more talks between the government and Ocalan in the future and concluded: "People have been visiting him and having come here to this conference, I will take this opportunity to visit whichever place I can and also meet Ocalan’s advocates who are here. In future I will keep in touch with those people and we will work for the world peace, taking the message of Ocalan”
