AMED - HDK Co-Spokesperson Ali Kenanoglu said: "Ensuring Mr Ocalan's freedom is a step towards securing the future of the Kurdish people. Therefore, the 'Hope and Freedom' rally must be embraced.”

The Democratic Institutions Platform will hold a "Hope and Freedom" rally in Amed (Diyarbakır) on 4 January. The rally, which will demand the physical freedom of Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan, will take place in Amed Station Square. Ali Kenanoglu, co-spokesperson for the Peoples' Democratic Congress (HDK), made an appeal for support in his assessment of the rally.

Stating that 2025 is important for the Kurdish people due to the "Peace and Democratic Society Process," Kenanoglu said that the 50-year conflict, isolation and denial policies, and unsolved murders must also be evaluated.
"When we evaluate this, we see Mr Ocalan's will and how that will has taken on a leadership role, how it has been accepted by the people, and how it has been accepted by the organisation," he said.

‘THE INTERLOCUTOR IS ABDULLAH OCALAN’

Kenanoglu said that despite his imprisonment, Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan is a figure listened to by the PKK and the people, adding that in the past, the state and opposition parties presented other individuals as interlocutors.
Kenanoglu added: "This was not in line with the reality of the situation and the reality of life. We have seen once again that the will of the Kurdish people is Mr Ocalan. The will of the organisation is Mr Ocalan, and it is not possible to reach any solution without Mr Ocalan."

LEGAL REGULATIONS

Kenanoglu said that the Kurdish Freedom Movement had taken all the necessary steps and that Abdullah Ocalan had intervened at some points to take new steps. He said that Abdullah Ocalan's "right to hope" must be implemented for this process to proceed better.

"Ensuring Mr Ocalan's freedom is legally guaranteed is a step towards ensuring the future of the Kurdish people is legally guaranteed," he said.

Kenanoglu added: "The rally to be held at Amed Station Square on 4 January is extremely important. It will be a rally that shows the people's support for their leadership and will.”

Kenanoglu said that it is not easy to overcome the policies and language used since 2015. Stating that the government has no intention of overcoming this, Kenanoglu said that the government has blocked Abdullah Ocalan's direct contact with the people to this day with this understanding.
