AMED - Attacks on North and East Syria were protested in Amed.
Democratic Regions Party (DBP), Free Women's Movement (TJA) and Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) protested the attacks on North and East Syria at Şêx Sêîd (Dağkapı) Square in Sûr district of Amed (Diyarbakır). During the sit-in protest, slogans such as "Bijî berxwedana Rojava (Long live resistance of Rojava)", "Jin, jiyan, azadî (Woman, life, freedom)" were frequently chanted.
After the sit-in, a statement was made. DEM Party Provincial Co-Chair Abbas Şahin said: "The more we talk about peace, the more they send gangs against the Kurdish people. This war did not and will not benefit the peoples. You have to accept the existence of Kurds now. If you think you can achieve this with gang attacks and civilian massacres, you are mistaken. Kurds advocate living together with their own status. We are making a statement to draw attention to the status of the Kurdish people in Rojava."
DEM Party Amed MP Adalet Kaya said that the attacks were "crimes against humanity". Adalet Kaya said, "Turkey is commiting war crimes by bombing the people. Turkey wants to blockade Kobani agains and watns to achieve what ISIS failed to achieve. Kobani resistance is invincible."
Drawing attention to the talks with Abdullah Öcalan, Adalet Kaya said, "You cannot talk about peace while bombing our brothers and sisters on the one hand. Today, there is a solution perspective for the peoples of the Middle East, Turkey and Kurdistan. What needs to be done is to immediately take concrete steps to realise this perspective. We are here to claim our will and our honour."
Adalet Kaya also commemorated journalists Nazım Daştan and Cihan Bilgin and Kurdish theatre actor Bavê Teyar who were killed in air strikes.
