ANKARA - DEM Party, CHP and New Path Party left a black wreath in front of the Interior Ministry against the appointment of trustees. "The trustee was appointed not only to Siirt, but to the whole of Turkey," says DEM Party Group Deputy Chair Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit.
MPs including Peoples' Equality and Democrasy Party (DEM Party) Group Deputy Chair Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit, CHP Group Deputy Chair Murat Emir and New Path Party (Yeni Yol) Group Chair Bülent Kaya made a statement in front of the Ministry of Interior.
KOCYIGIT: TRUSTEE HAS BEEN APPOINTED TO THE WHOLE TURKEY
Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğiy said, "An unconstitutional action is being taken. They are addressing us to a Decree Law issued during State of Emergency (SoE) The coup plotters in this country were also saying that they took power from domestic lagislation. The fact that this article of law exists today does not mean that it is not against the Constitution. In this country, the citizenship rights of a section of the society are being suspended. The most basic right, the right to vote and be elected, is being destroyed. Tomorrow, they will dissolve the parliament, suspend democracy and cancel the elections. Therefore, this issue is not just a matter of one party. It is not only a matter of the Kurdish people. The trustee was not appointed to Siirt, the trustee was appointed to all of Turkey. It has been appointed to every single citizen. For this reason, we are faced with a historical responsibility to be together, to object together, to weave a struggle together.’
EMIR: WE WILL NOT BOW DOWN
Murat Emir stated that the votes of the people were usured and said, "Every vote cast in every part of this country has the same value and is equally sacred. They are equal in terms of the constitution. But if you say 'you cannot vote' for thhe voters in Ovacık, Esenyurt, Siirt and Mardin, if you think that the only legitimate ballot box is the ballot box wjere you were elected, you are an authority. As political parties, we are here to defend the law and rights of our people. We will never submit to these unlawfulness and injustice. Let them not call it law, let them not call it judgement."
KAYA: NO FINALISED JUDGEMENT
Bülent Kaya pointed out that there is no finalised court decision against Sofia Alağaş, co-mayor of Sêrt (Siirt) Municipality. Bülent Kaya said, "The mayor in question has served as mayor for a year and a half even while this case against her was ongoing. There had not been any negative incidents in Siirt. Today's decision of the court of first instance is not a final judgement. Anyone who does not have a finalised court decision is innocent before the law. While the council members elected by the people in Esenyurt could not elect their own mayor, Beşiktaş Municipality, 20-30 kilometres away, elected a deputy mayor from within its own council. Now, how will you explain two different democracies 20-30 kilometres away to Turkey? Can there be separate democracy in Beşiktaş and separate democracy in Esenyurt?’
After the statement, a black wreath was wanted to be placed in front of the ministry. Police officers tried to prevent the wreath. Party members laid the wreath despite the prevention.
