The Peoples' Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party İmralı Delegation met with the imprisoned Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan on Imrali Island yesterday. The written statement made by the Imrali Delegation is as follows:
“To the Press and Public,
As the DEM Party İmralı Delegation, we held a three-and-a-half-hour meeting with Mr. Abdullah Öcalan at İmralı Prison on July 25, 2025.
During the meeting, we exchanged views regarding the recent discussions we had as a delegation with the President, the Minister of Justice, and political party leaders.
We shared our impressions and reflections on the weapons destruction ceremony held on July 11. Mr. Öcalan also expressed his high appreciation for the manner in which the ceremony was conducted, highlighting the demonstrated will, faith, and determination for peace.
He emphasized his expectation that the parliamentary commission currently on the agenda at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey will contribute significantly to peace and democracy through a comprehensive and inclusive approach.
He conveyed his sincere greetings and best wishes to the public and all segments of society.
