AMED - Peoples' Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party Youth Assembly called for participation in the march and concert to be organised in Amed (Diyarbakır) as part of the peace process.
DEM Party Youth Assembly will organise a Peace and Democratic Society March and a concert in Amed. DEM Party Youth Assembly held a press conference at the DEM Party Amed provincial building to call for participation in the march and concert. The statement was made by Sultan Yorulmaz in Kurmanji dialect of Kurdish and Yusuf Demir Polat in Turkish.
Within the scope of the programme, on 14 August at 19.00 at the DEM Party provincial building, a march will be held to Kent Square. After the march, a concert will be organised in Kent Square.
Drawing attention to Abdullah Öcalan's call to "get organised and organise" in the letter he sent to young people on April 4, Polat said that in response to the call, DEM Party and DBP Youth Assemblies had launched the campaign "We insist on socialist life, we are organising with the free leadership" and that they had carried out many activities within this scope.
'THE CALL IS THE SPIRIT OF THE NEW ERA'
Stating that Öcalan's 27 February call is the spirit of the new era, Polat said: "The spirit of breakthrough is the symbol of rebirth, resurrection and existence. Just as the spirit of the breakthrough is a bullet fired into the outdated Kurdish mind, the 27 February call is the milestone of a new era for the peoples of Turkey and our patriotic people. As youth assemblies, we will respond to the duties and responsibilities of this historical milestone by organising village to village, street to street."
Polat called on all youth to participate in the march and concert.
CALL FOR MARCH
Speaking afterwards, Hülya Alökmen Uyanık from Free Women's Movement (Tevgera Jinên Azad-TJA) stated that these events were organised in order to embrace the Peace and Democratic Society Process and invited everyone, especially young women, to the march.
The statement ended with the slogan "Biji berxwedana ciwanan (Long live resistance of the youth)".
