ANKARA – In the meeting with the DEM Party Delegation Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan stated, “In order to move to a positive phase, it is vital that everyone acts with sensitivity, seriousness and a sense of responsibility during this process.”
Peoples’ Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party Imrali Delegation members Pervin Buldan, Mithat Sancar and Faik Ozgur Erol issued a written statement yesterday regarding their meeting with Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan.
The statement reads: “On 3 November 2025, we held an extremely positive meeting with Mr Abdullah Ocalan in Imrali. His health and morale is quite strong. In our meeting, he made the following assessments in summary:
‘Advancing the process we are in requires taking history and sociology more seriously. It is important to recognise that Turkish-Kurdish relations have come to the present day as two pillars spanning a thousand years. Unity must be strengthened by seeing, understanding and repairing these pillars.
We must act by creating a horizon that encompasses our current problems, not by drawing lines.
We are making a serious effort for a historical issue under limited conditions. We are trying to develop a positive phase, not a destructive and negative one. The inclusion of the Kurdish phenomenon in all its dimensions into the legality of the Republic and a strong transition process for this purpose should be fundamental. The transition to legality as a holistic phenomenon will strengthen the legal foundations of the Democratic Republic.
The opportunity for democratic integration that we are currently on the verge of is both local and universal. For this process to move to a positive stage, it is vital that everyone acts with sensitivity, seriousness and a sense of responsibility.”
