ESKİŞEHİR - "We will struggle until justice is achieved for Rojin and we will follow the case step by step," says Bensu Özkan, member of the "Justice Commission for Rojin Kabaiş".

Rojin Kabaiş (21), a first year student of Van Yüzüncü Yıl University (YYÜ) Faculty of Education, Department of Child Development, disappeared suspiciously after having dinner at Seyyid Fehim Arvasi Girls' Dormitory on 27 September. Rojin Kabaiş's lifeless body was found 18 days later on the beach of Molla Kasım neighbourhood. However, although 4 months have passed since Rojin Kabaiş's death, the mystery is still not cleared.

As Rojin Kabaiş's death has not been clarified, women have established "Justice Commission for Rojin Kabaiş" in many cities to clarify her suspicious death. Bensu Özkan member of the "Justice Commission for Rojin Kabaiş" established in Eskişehir, made evaluations.

Bensu Özkan stated that after Rojin Kabaiş's body was found, attempts were made to cover up the incident by calling it "suicide" and said, "We are increasing our struggle by saying 'Rojin did not commit suicide'. Because two male DNA samples were found on Rojin's body. It is not explained to whom these DNAs belong to and in which part of her body they were found. The beach where Rojin was found is about 20 kilometres away from the are where she disappeared and in the opposite direction of the Lake Van current. There is a restriction order on the file. Even his family and lawyers cannot acces the file."

Bensu Özkan emphasised that the confidentiality order in the file must be lifted and said, "As we have experienced from the Justice for Şule Çet and Justice for Gülistan Doku Commissions, we know that we have achieved great gains by creating public pressure. Şule Çet and Gülistan Doku were also disappeared. And both were told 'committed suicide'. We proved that Şule did not commit suicide by punishing the perpetrators. We proved that Gülistan Doku was murdered, not disappeared."

Stating that women do not commit suicide, they are murdered, Bensu Özkan said, "Murders are being committed and women are being murdered. We call on women to be a part of our struggle, to participate in the actions and events we organise, and for volunteer lawyers to follow the case. We will follow the case step by step. Also as an intervener. We will struggle until real justice is achieved for Rojin."
